What is Capoeira?

Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian art form that combines martial arts, dance, and music.

Contramestre Compasso

Jason Ri, known as Contramestre Compasso in the Capoeira world, is the head instructor and owner of Arlington Capoeira. He has 25 years of experience training and teaching Capoeira and is a student of Grão-Mestre Chuvisco, founder of Mandingueiros dos Palmares (MdP), who has over 50 years of experience and is widely regarded as a luminary of Capoeira.

CM Compasso is also a licensed mental health counselor. Capoeira is not a psychotherapeutic modality. CM Compasso incorporates his knowledge of mental health and skill-building as a foundational pillar of his teaching.
